The Scioto County Jail is a full-service, minimum to maximum security facility located in Portsmouth, Ohio. The jail houses female and male adult offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. How to Send Mail or Package
Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family members while incarcerated. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary account onsite or online. To add funds to an account onsite, visit the Administration Office located in the Sheriff’s Office. The office only accepts cash. To add funds to an account online, visit the AccessCorrections website and select Scioto County Jail as the facility.
Visitation Hours
Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members while they are incarcerated. Visitation must be scheduled in advance. Visitation days and times are based on where they are housed within the jail.
