The Mentor Police Department is a law enforcement agency located in Lake County, Ohio. The department is composed of 3 main divisions: administration, operations, and support services. The administration division is staffed during normal business hours, which is Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Programs under administration include court security, department training, and crime prevention programs. The operations department is responsible for patrolling the city, making local arrests, filing police reports, deterring crime, and investigating crimes. The units under the operations division iclude ATV patrol, basic patrol, bicycle patrol, bomb squad, detective bureau, the hostage negotiations team, K9 units and SWAT. The support services division is responsible for the communications unit of the department and maintaining all police records and documents.

All persons arrested by the Mentor Police Department are transported to the Lake County Jail. The Lake County Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility located in Painesville, Ohio. The jail houses adult offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates are either serving their sentence, awaiting trial or awaiting transfer to a state of federal prison. Current inmates and their mugshots can be seen on the jail’s inmate roster.
Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members while they are incarcerated. Inmates can visit in person or via video.
