All persons arrested by the Sandusky Police Department are transported to the Erie County Jail. The Erie County Jail is a medium to maximum security facility located in Sandusky, Ohio. The jail houses adult inmate offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony crimes. All inmates are either serving out their sentence, awaiting trial, awaiting transfer to a state prison or awaiting transfer to the state or county in which they are wanted. Visitation can be off site from the comfort of the visitor’s home or onsite using a kiosk located in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. Inmate’s are allowed 1 hour of off site visitation daily and 1 hour of onsite visitation weekly.
