The Ashland County Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility located in Ashland, Ohio. The jail is the only full-service jail in the county. The jail was opened in February of 2001. The facility has a capacity of 127 inmates and staffs 34 full-time correctional officers. The average daily population is 110, with approximately 1,750 inmates booked annually. The jail provides the inmates many programs and activities such as alcohol and drug counseling, anger management, parenting and G.E.D. classes, and religious counseling. All staff members receive a minimum of 24 hours of in-service training each year. The public can search for inmates on the jail roster.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive letters from friends and family through the USPS. No packages are allowed. Photos, cards and letters are allowed to be sent in. Newspapers and soft back books are allowed to be sent in straight from the publisher.

Inmates are also allowed to receive emails through a 3rd party provider called SecureMail. Messages and pictures can be sent through the website. There is a fee for this service.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s account onsite, online, over the phone or by mail. To add money onsite, visit the kiosk in the Night Lobby located in the Sheriff’s Office. The kiosk accepts cash, credit and debit cards. Money can be added online using a 3rd party provider called Access Corrections. The website accepts credit and debit cards. To add money over the phone, call 1-866-345-1884. The number is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To add money by mail, send a money order to the Sheriff’s Office with the inmate’s name and booking number listed.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed onsite and video visitations with friends and family. Visits last 30 minutes each and can be scheduled online or in the lobby of the jail. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

3:30 pm to 4:35 pm
6 pm to 10 pm

The Ashland County Jail provides a public inmate roster. The roster is updated weekly and lists the inmates in alphabetical order. The inmates name, mugshot, charges and bond amount will be posted on the roster.
