The Summit County Jail is a full-service, minimum to maximum security facility located in Akron, Ohio. A full-service facility operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The jail houses female and male adult offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates are either serving their sentence, awaiting trial or awaiting transfer to a state of federal prison. The facility has a capacity of 671 inmates. Programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Bible Studies, chapel services, drug rehab and life skill classes are provided to inmates. How to Send Mail and Package
Inmates are allowed to receive mail from friends and family members. Letters and up to 4 standard pictures are accepted mail. All mail will be opened and searched for contraband.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary account onsite or online. To add funds onsite, visit the kiosk located in the jail lobby. The kiosk only accepts cash or credit cards. To add funds online, visit the AccessCorrections website and choose the Summit County Jail as the facility.
Visitation Hours
Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members while incarcerated. Visits are conducted via a video monitoring system. Visits can be scheduled on the ICSolutions website or on the kiosk located in the front lobby of the jail. Visitation must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Inmates can receive 1 twenty-five minute visit per week.

The Summit County Jail has a public inmate roster. The roster lists the inmate’s name, mugshot, inmate number, charges and bond amount.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for releasing active warrant information. Warrant information can be released over the phone.
