The Muskingum County Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility located in Zanesville, Ohio. The jail houses female and male adult offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates are either serving their sentence, awaiting trial or awaiting transfer to a state of federal prison. All of The Muskingum County Jail correctional officers are trained in crisis intervention, strategic inmate management, first aid and cultural diversity. The jail is responsible for releasing current inmate information and their mugshots to the public.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family members while incarcerated. All mail will be opened and searched for contraband.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary account onsite or online. To add funds onsite, visit the kiosk located in the jail lobby. To add funds online, visit the AccessCorrections website. The inmate’s full first and last name will be needed to add funds.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members while incarcerated. Visitation is through a video monitoring system. Visitation can take place onsite or offsite. An account on the ICSolutions website will need to be made before scheduling a visit. Each inmate is allowed 1 onsite and 1 offsite visit per week. Once an account is made on the ICSolutions website, the available days and times for visitation will be released.

The Muskingum County Jail has a public inmate roster. The roster is updated daily. The inmate’s name, booking number, booking date and identifying features are listed on the roster. For information on the inmate’s charges, mugshots or other inmate data, contact the jail.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office has a most wanted list. The list features fugitives wanted throughout the county. The fugitive’s name, mugshot, identifying features and the reason they are wanted is listed. The Sheriff’s Office asks the public to contact the Warrants Division with any information on the fugitives’ whereabouts.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office has a records division. The division is responsible for processing and handling all reports and pertinent paperwork coming through the office, processing background check requests and processing public record requests. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4pm. Record requests must be submitted in person.
