Union County utilizes the Tri-County Regional Jail. The Tri-County Regional Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility. The jail houses inmates who have been charged with and arrested for misdemeanor or felony crimes. All inmates housed in the jail are currently awaiting trial, serving their sentence or awaiting transfer to state prison. Inmates housed in the facility can be viewed on the public jail roster.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive letters and photographs from their friends and family. All mail is opened and searched for contraband. The Jail staff does not read the letters sent to inmates.

Funds can be deposited to an inmate’s account onsite at the jail, online or over the phone. To make a deposit onsite, visit the kiosk in the lobby of the jail. To make a deposit online, visit the 3rd party provider’s website called Access Corrections. To make a deposit over the phone, call 866-345-1884. The inmate’s full name and ID number is needed to make a deposit.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed a limited number of visits per week. All visits are through a video recording monitor. Visitors can use an onsite video recording terminal or use their smartphone or laptop from home. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Visitation is available every day from 7 am to 10 pm.

The Tri-County Jail is utilized by the Champaign, Madison and Union Counties. All police departments and the Sheriff’s Offices of those counties transfer arrestees to this jail.

The Tri-County Regional Jail has a public inmate roster. The roster lists every inmate housed in the jail in alphabetical order by their last name. The inmate’s name, mugshot, arrest date, booking number, charges, bond amount and next court date are listed on the roster.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office has a most wanted list. The list features fugitives from within the county who are wanted for various crimes. The fugitive’s name, mugshot, identifying features, last known address and current charges are made public.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for releasing traffic accident and incident reports to the public. Record requests can be submitted in person, by mail or email. Traffic crash reports can be requested online on the Ohio Traffic Data website.
