Athens County utilizes a multi-county jail called the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. The jail serves Athens, Hocking, Morgan, Perry and Vinton Counties. The jail was opened in April of 1998 and is managed by the Judges, Sheriffs and Commissioners serving in the counties that use the jail. The facility houses adult inmates who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes. The capacity of the facility is 226. Inmates housed in the facility can be viewed on the public jail roster.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates can receive letters, photographs and cards from family and friends. Mail will be opened and searched for contraband.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary account on-site or online. Money orders and cash are accepted in the jail’s lobby and can be dropped off anytime. The jail uses a 3rd party provider called Access Corrections for online commissary deposits. Deposits can be made by visiting the Access Corrections website.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed to receive 1 thirty minute visit from friends or family a week at the jail. Inmates are allowed unlimited remote video visits a week. Visits must be scheduled in advance.

Friday:
MINIMUM SECURITY INMATES ONLY 12 pm to 4:25 pm

Saturday:
12 pm to 4:25 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm

Sunday:
12 pm to 4:25 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm

Remote video visits can be scheduled through the 3rd party provider’s website, Securus Tech.

Inmates arrested and housed in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail can be viewed on the facility’s public inmate roster. The jail houses inmates from 5 counties and lists where the inmate was arrested, and by which law enforcement agency. The inmate’s name, mugshot, charges and bond can be viewed on the roster.

All warrants processed through Athens County are processed through the Civil Process division of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Warrant information can be obtained by contacting the civil division Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm at 740-566-4324.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for releasing public incident, traffic accident and arrest records. Record requests can be submitted in person, by mail, fax, email or over the phone. The type and location of the incident, the case number, date and time and name of the person involved will be needed to locate the records.
