The Franklin County Jail is a minimum to maximum facility located in Columbus, Ohio. There are 2 facilities which house inmates. The jail houses inmates who have been charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. Adult and juvenile offenders are housed in the same facility. All inmates in the jail are either awaiting trial, serving their sentence, or awaiting transport to state or federal prison. Current inmates and their mugshots can be seen on the facility’s jail roster.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive letters and photographs through the United States Postal Service. All mail is opened and searched for contraband. Mail must be addressed with the inmate’s full name and booking number. The mail can be sent to the address of the facility the inmate is housed in.

Magazines and books can be sent to an inmate as long as they are sent directly from a verified publisher, distributor or retailer, such as Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Funds can be added onto an inmate’s account onsite or by mail. The jail will accept cash or money orders onsite. The jail will only accept money orders through the mail. The money orders must be properly filled out with the inmate’s full name.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members. Inmates are allowed 1 fifteen minute visit per week. There is a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children per visit for each inmate. The visitation schedule is the same for both facilities. Visiting days go by the inmate’s last name.

A-C: Mondays
D-G: Tuesdays
H-L: Wednesdays
M-Q: Thursdays
Juveniles: Fridays
R-S: Saturdays
T-Z: Sundays

The hours can be between 10:30 am and 9 pm.

The Franklin County Jail provides the public with a jail roster. The roster lists the inmates who are currently housed in one of the Franklin County Jail’s facilities. The inmates are listed in alphabetical order by last name. The inmate’s full name, inmate number, booking number, housing location, mugshot, charges and bond amount will be listed.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has a most wanted list. The fugitive’s name, mugshot, identifying features, case number, charges and last known address is made public on the list. The Sheriff’s Office asks the public to contact them with any information known about the fugitive.
