The Montgomery County Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility located in Dayton, Ohio. The jail houses adult offenders who have been arrested and charged with misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates are either serving their sentence, awaiting trial or awaiting transfer to a state of federal prison. The jail provides programs for inmates such as recreation time, library services, anger management classes, alcohol and drug educational classes, computer classes, and inmate work programs. How to Send Mail or Package
Inmates are allowed to receive letters, money orders for commissary use and photographs from friends and family members. All mail will be digitally scanned and distributed to inmate’s on a kiosk or tablet.

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary account onsite, online or by mail. To add funds to an account onsite, visit the kiosk located in the Jail Lobby. The lobby accepts cash, credit and debit cards. To add funds online, visit the JailATM website. To add funds by mail, send a money order addressed to the inmate to the jail.
Visitation Hours
Inmates are encouraged to visit with their friends and family members while incarcerated. Inmates are allowed two 30 minute visits a week. All visits are through a video recording monitoring system. Visits can take place onsite or remotely. Visits can be scheduled through the SmartJailMail website. Available visitation days and times will be released once an account is made.

The Montgomery County Jail has a public inmate roster. Inmates are listed in alphabetical order. The inmate’s name, mugshot, date of birth, booking date, booking number and charges are listed on the roster.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for releasing traffic accidents, dispatch logs, incident and offense reports to the public. Record requests must be submitted electronically on the Sheriff’s Office website.
